Basketball Party--March Madness!

It's March!  Are you excited?!
Basketball Party

March just happens to be my AH's (awesome husband) favorite month of the year.
Why?  You wonder...

1) It's his birthday month,
2) Spring Training games begin
and
3) MARCH MADNESS!
Can you tell our lives revolve around sports?

In our family, we all fill out the March Madness brackets.
Our first year of marriage I filled out the brackets based on the teams with the best cheerleaders...(Go Wildcats!)
My husband wasn't too pleased when I was the winner!

Last year my daughter copied the Wall Street Journal's picks...and won!  I wonder who will win this year?
March Madness Party

In honor of March Madness,

I'm showing you our recent Basketball Party we had for my Dad.
(Yes, every party has to have a theme!)

I put my kids to work making a few signs to help with the decor.

Basketball Table decor

This post contains affiliate links to help you locate products.

The table was set with Dollar Store basketball water bottles and
orange foam coasters. These paper plates and orange napkins helped carry the theme.
I cut out orange felt circles and drew on the basketball lines.

Basketball Party Table decor.

Basketball playing cards, little Converse style sneaker key chains, basketball keychains, mini basketballs and other random basketball items from our home were scattered on the table.
It's a little overdone...(yes, I do notice that now looking at these pictures.)  Warning: once you start making felt basketballs, you really can't stop!

Basketball puns

Color coordinating bubbles say,  "DON'T BLOW IT!"
Get it?  Don't blow the game...

They get worse.

Basketball suckers say, "SUCK IT UP!"

I told you.

Orange colored cheddar popcorn and cheese puffs in orange cupcake liners.
(All those things I never let my kids eat...)
HALFTIME SNACKS

Veggie tray with Ranch dressing...DUNK IT!
(Ha! I'm so funny...)

TOSS SALAD!
You know...a basketball 'toss'...

English muffin pizzas...PASS THOSE PIZZAS!
Couldn't really come up with something clever on this one.

This is for the die hard basketball fans...I impressed AH with this one.
CHERRY PICKING ALLOWED!

Don't know what Cherry Picking is?
It's the term used for the one player who stays down by their basket, instead of defending...
just waiting for a long pass straight to them--to score easily.

and here's my favorite...

Apple TURNOVERS!
(hee hee!)

Of course my Dad (and the kids) loved the basketball cake.
I used a ball pan and added Reeses Pieces candies to the bottom.

And there you have it...a basketball party.

Enjoy the MADNESS!

  4. OH my gosh, I LOVE this party!! My husband and I met during March Madness {at a bar- I was dragged there for the spinach dip and had NO idea what March Madness even was... he was there watching it} so we fill out our brackets every year too. I used to choose the teams based on whether or not I liked the location, so my hubs used to get frustrated when I'd win too! I love all of your food names- so, so creative!
