Love Letter Cookies and Parcel

I've got a special delivery for you today.
I've baked up some envelope sugar cookies.

I used my favorite sugar cookies recipe--click here.
I didn't have a rectangle cookie cutter, so I just used a knife to cut the sugar dough into rectangles.

(Don't look too close, some of my rectangles are a bit off.)

I cut little hearts out of my cookies,

(I used a mini cookie cutter for these, my cutting skills aren't that great either.)

but next time I'll leave the envelopes solid
and cut the hearts out of extra dough.
They're much easier to just stick on top of a solid cookie, than a cookie with a hole cutout.

 After baking,
I frosted up the cookies with white and pink frosting.

(Here's a sneak peek at our Valentine's table.)
To package up some of these envelope cookies,
I made this little printable.

page 1 is in pink
page 2 is in red

Print these out on brown paper cardstock.
and fold in half.
On a sewing machine, I stitched the top, left side
and bottom of the envelope together.
Don't forget to leave the right side open.

Of course these don't HAVE to be sewed....you could use a stapler and they would work just fine.

A zig-zag stitch and red thread worked well.

Slide the cookie in a cellophane wrapper,

then place the cookie inside the paper envelope.

Hole punch through both the top and bottom
of the envelope.

And of course, add a ribbon to secure.

 There you have it.
Special Delivery Valentines.

 Hand deliver to your friends.
